Day of Hope #23

Goal: Get pampered, relax, watch a marathon
Quote: “Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.” – Wayne Dyer
Today was a work free day. I started the day of hope early with a friend and we went to dinner at Barbacoa in Boise. Then on the 13th I went to Two Rivers Day Spa in Eagle Idaho for an all-afternoon spa day with my gal pal Frankie.
I know I have lots of spa days here. It’s not cheap but I have a savings account titled, A Day of Hope, and I have money transferred into that account each payday to fund my days of hope. For me, when I walk into a spa everything in the world around me disappears. I can fully relax, and leave everything outside, until I am done. No worries, no stress, no phone, nothing. I also ask for gift certificates for holidays and birthdays from the spas I like, which makes them free, and that helps.
We started with a Honey Hawaiian wrap with warm honey, steam room, then an hour massage, then 50-minute facial, manicure, and pedicure. Ooh la la. So relaxing. We have so much fun together and I love spending time with her. We have a large gap in age, 29 years, but we are so close and really enjoy each other’s company. We also share a birthday. After the spa we went back to my house to watch marathon episodes of the TV show, Glee. We had both wanted to watch it when it was on TV but didn’t make the time, so we are committed to watching it only with each other on Netflix. We bought some fresh shrimp and cocktail sauce and wine for our dinner and settled in for an evening of back-to-back episodes.
Glee is an American musical comedy-drama tv show that was on for six seasons. It centers on the glee club in high school that has singers with all kinds of social issues and teen-age drama, but they all just want to be a part of something great. There is someone from every click in high school represented. The jocks, cheerleaders, brainchild, nerds, gay, straight, ethnic background, troubled and delinquents in need of help and just every area. The singers and music were so fun and lighthearted but with a heart tugging story each week. It lifts you up and makes you feel inspired and really makes you think about how you treat people. The show was on until March of 2015.
We laughed and we cried. While we were inside enjoying the shows, the weather outside was a blizzard. Frankie had to drive home in a horrible snowstorm. They don’t really clean the roads in Boise, or at least they didn’t use to, as it hardly ever snows in the valley. We have several ski resorts not too far away, but the valley does not get much snow, so when it does there are not enough snowplows to clean it up fast. She managed to make it home safe, and we made another plan for our next marathon day.
My lesson of hope: Just being present and enjoying a friend’s company no matter what you are doing is so good for my soul, sometimes marathons are great, and a spa day always helps.
