Goal: Get excited about new adventures and let the past go

Quote: “Sometimes you have to let things go, so there’s room for better things to come into your life.” - Unknown

I started off at Red Lobster for lunch with my gal pal Frankie. We like to go there to have a single lobster tail with a side of broccoli. If you don’t know what a Red Lobster is, it’s an American casual dining restaurant chain, headquartered in Orlando, Florida. They have locations all over and are famous for their endless shrimp deals. They have a variety of food, not just seafood, and it’s a fun atmosphere. You can even see the live lobster, in the tank.

Today, we are going furniture shopping. I am going on a new adventure and moving from Boise, Idaho to Lake Forest, Illinois in Chicago, for work. My current company has been bought by a company that is based in Chicago. I have decided to accept a position and move there, and I have given away all my furniture. I am moving from a large house to a small condo, which requires different furniture. I have pictures of what I am looking for on my vision board, so we are in search of those specific items. I also needed some new clothes to wear as Chicago is a bit fancier than Boise and I wanted to dress the part.

Frankie and I spent six hours looking at furniture. She loves shopping and was so happy to go with me. I wanted a new bedroom set, couch, and end tables for the condo. They were paying to move all my items, and it was time for some new things, as all my furniture was old or too big to fit in a condo. I did not find a cool bedroom set, but I did find a great L shaped couch that was very comfortable. I figured I could sleep on that, if necessary, until I found something in Chicago. This purchase ended up being a huge blessing in disguise. Everyone that stays over raves about how comfortable the couch is.

After shopping all day, we met her husband for dinner at the Ram in Boise. This is also a chain restaurant. It’s an American restaurant and brewery. They are famous for their beer, and burgers, and have lots of TVs to watch sports. My favorite drink there is the Proud Mary, which has New Amsterdam Vodka, veggie and cheese kabob, Chile-lime salted rim, tomato juice, and a side of their brewed Blonde Ale. Both he and I love them. I am not a big beer drinker, so he gets my shot of beer, as well and the onions, and hot pepper, on the kabob. He loves that.

We go there for the food, but it is also within walking distance of the BSU Stadium, where we have season tickets to watch the Men’s Basketball team. We’ve had tickets for years and love to go to the games in the arena. We have good seats, and the roar of the crowd noise is so great, and we really get into it. We love being a part of something special and fun in the city. There are a lot of home games for basketball, and we enjoy them all.

My lesson of hope: New adventures can be scary, but they can also be fun and exciting if you let them. For me, sporting events are always a great idea.
