Day of Hope #28

Goal: Do something, even if it’s only for a few hours

Quote: “Make things simple but significant.” - Unknown

On this day of hope, I needed to be in our Chicago office for work, but that did not stop me from enjoying an evening of hope. I Googled what to do in Chicago on that particular day. Since it was a Monday, it was not too popular, so I fell back on my tried-and-true spa time. I called a couple of spas, but they were booked.

There was a mall close, so I thought to myself, malls usually have spas in them. I found a cute spa in the Hawthorn Mall. The massage spa services were full, but I got a fun pedicure, and took myself to dinner at Noodles and Company after. It’s an American fast-casual chain that has noodle dishes, in addition to soups and salads. I am a sucker for pasta.

Sometimes we have to take detours on our way, but I am very proud of myself for doing something, rather than going home, and doing nothing. I can do nothing tomorrow night.

My lesson of hope: Spending time with myself, and doing something I enjoy, is the end goal on my day of hope. It does not have to be fancy, or over the top all the time. Sometimes the simple things can fuel my soul as well.
