Goal: Tornados and pedicures
Quote: “The more violent the storm, the quicker it passes.” – Paulo Coelho
On this day of hope, I had to work, but I did not let that stop me. I left early and went to the Chicago mall I had discovered earlier on my #28 day of hope, for a pedicure. There were several tornado warnings. We would get them sometimes in Idaho, but they are very rare. In Chicago however, they are a bit scary. The weather this night was crazy. I took a picture of the sky before my appointment. It had the most amazing clouds. They were orange and red from the sunset but also dark and gloomy.
I was not sure when I went into the mall if I was going to come out. But I thought to myself what a way to go out doing something I enjoy and on my special day!
There was a lot of thunder and loud noises as I was getting my pedicure. I was having flashbacks of the movie Twister, starring Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt where they chase tornados for fun. I wondered if my car would still be in the parking lot.
My car was there of course, and the main part of the storm had passed by the time I was done. I came out of the mall, got some food to go, and ate dinner on my patio at the hotel. I watched the clouds and the rain. The next day was sunny and clear, and I went for a great walk. Crazy weather almost like the weather in Idaho. People say just wait fifteen minutes and the weather will change.
My lesson of hope: Storms come and go, and some are worse than others, but if you just enjoy the rain and have hope that it will all be ok, it will.
