Goal: Escape to the water
Quote: “Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it.” – Lao Tzu
Water calms me and gives my brain rest from the crazy everyday life. It’s a proven fact that water lowers stress and anxiety. It helps increase an overall sense of well-being and happiness and brings down the heart rate. I will take more of that please.
Sometimes, I just need to get in my car and drive to a lake or river. I did an escape day today to McCall, Idaho, and was gone for the entire day. It’s a beautiful drive by the Payette River.
I sat on the grass by the water journaling. The lake is so peaceful and there were hardly any people that day. Probably because it was a Tuesday. It’s a beautiful sunny day. No clouds, 61 degrees. I need water and mountains and calm. It seems like forever since I have been to McCall. It is only two hours away from Boise.
There are couples eating lunch, and a guy getting his sailboat ready to sail. A gal and her daughter taking family pictures, and two young guys catching Pokémon’s. That was the latest craze where a Pokémon game was created as an app on your phone, and you can walk around and catch them on your phone and earn points.
I just sat and journaled by the water for a few hours. Then I grabbed some lunch at one of the restaurants looking out on the water. Then I got an ice cream cone, sat on a bench, and just watched people enjoying the sun on the beach.
I was having quite a challenging time juggling everything while eating my ice-cream, as I had broken my wrist in August helping a friend move to her new apartment. I tripped over a mattress on the ground and the concrete caught my fall along with my wrist. This was my first real trip since the accident, so it was a much-needed escape day.
My lesson of hope: Lakes and rivers calm me, and I need to remember how great it is to live close to them and access them when needed. Ice cream is always good for my tummy, and sunshine just makes the day perfect.
