Goal: Pretend to be in Hawaii, eat Mexican food, and see a Super Moon

Quote: “The moon knows the earth is afraid of the dark, so she stays up every night, so the earth never has to worry.” – Jessica Langlois

Today I had to work. Yes, I realize it’s a Sunday, but it happens. Only a few hours, so not too bad, but then my day got a lot better.  The day before I celebrated early with a nice long walk on the Greenbelt with my walking partner Mr. D. Love, love, love those walks. He is such a special friend. I was supposed to be in Hawaii this week for my day of hope, but I started a new job, so I had to postpone my trip so that I could help at the job. The company is going through a corporate spin and becoming a stand-alone public company so there is no shortage of things to do. Since it was my first week, I needed to be available. You do what you must do.

To cheer me up my amazing friends helped me celebrate Hawaii on a budget. HA! We had Hawaiian pizza and fancy drinks with umbrellas in them. It made me feel really special.

Then on Sunday I got together with my kids, aunt, and cousin, for a fun family dinner at Café Ole, which is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Margaritas, chips, and salsa always cheer me up.  Of course, I had to wear the over-the-top Mexican sombrero hat and get serenaded with a song. It was fun.

Another great item this weekend was I got to witness what’s called a Super Moon. This happens when a full moon occurs at the closest point to the earth during its orbit, it appears larger and brighter than a full moon. It is believed that super moons give a boost of luck, good karma, and energy to the universe when they occur. When a super moon appears, it offers up the chance for you to release the things that are holding you back. Gotta love that.

Also, a fun fact, empaths might find it difficult to sleep during a full or super moon because the moon is a time of heightened energy, and empaths can easily pick up on the strong emotions of others. Meditating, deep breaths and journaling can help counteract it. I love a good super moon; I can sit and watch it all night.  It just gives me a sense of peace and calm. This particular super moon I saw will not happen again for another 18 years. It was so cool; I had my friend in Hawaii go outside and look at the moon at the same time as me. Even when your millions of miles away, if you’re looking at the same moon, it somehow makes the world smaller and the distance not seem so far away.

My lesson of hope: Good friends and family can always turn things around and seeing the universe super moon just made it seem much brighter.
