Goal: Go to La La Land

Quote: “You gotta have a dream. If you don’t have a dream, how are you gonna make a dream come true?” - Oscar Hammerstein II

Today was Monday and I needed to go into work for a half day. Then I went to get my car cleaned inside and out by professionals. I feel so good when my car is spotless on the inside as well as the outside, and it gives me a sense of calm and pride in something. I like to go to a local shop called J’s Car Wash in Garden City, Idaho. They always do a great job and are very efficient and detailed.

Next, I had a "be present" lunch where I ate a salad. I savored every bite, noticed the music playing, the gals laughing at the table across the room, and the guys in the kitchen chatting about Valentine's Day, which is tomorrow. I was just present and in the room. It felt like time stopped and I was there for hours, but it was only 30 minutes.

Then, I did one of my non-favorite things and went to the mall to get new undergarments and try on fancy dresses. It had been a few years since I had been shopping for clothes. Actually, I believe the last time was my makeover day of hope #22. It was time and I had an extra hour to spare before I went to go see a movie. It’s always stressful for me at the mall as I am not a fan of shopping, but I got what I needed in record time and got out. The movie I saw that day was La La Land at the theater complete with popcorn and a cherry Coke.

La La Land (Wikipedia) The film stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as a struggling jazz pianist and an aspiring actress, respectively, who meet and fall in love while pursuing their dreams in Los Angeles. It’s a great movie about love, loss and dreams coming true. They both get what they need in the end.

Then I headed home to make me a healthy dinner, do some journaling and watch another movie which was about dating, by Hallmark. While You Were Dating starring William Baldwin, Stehanie von Pfetten and Julia Bensen. It is about a divorced couple that married at 20years old and divorced for 16years then meet online and end up going on a blind date together. After an awkward reunion, they decide to set each other up with their friends, but old habits never die. Fun movie and inspiring. I love Hallmarks movies, and I have always thought that A Day of Hope would be a great Hallmark movie. I believe in miracles and a girl can dream whatever she wants.

My lesson of hope: Follow your dreams and make yourself happy and things will fall into place. Dance like no one is watching, even when someone is. Enjoy every moment of your day of hope, however many hours that might be, no matter the obstacles. Life is short. Savor it!

Bonus Event

Saying goodbye to number thirteen. Every year my friend Frankie, her husband Bob, and I get season tickets for Boise State basketball. We love to go to the games and really get into cheering and enjoying the game. There is a great group we sit by that are also season ticket holders. It’s wonderful time when we get to see them each season. This month was very sad for me as my favorite player Nick Duncan was leaving as he was graduating. I loved to watch him play. I particularly liked him as he wore number thirteen, of course. HA!

It was a sad day for me as I have watched him since he started at BSU, but we all had a blast. He seems to be a great kid inside and out. It made the games fun to root for him and my favorite number thirteen. We got some great pictures and I even got too high five him when he took the court for the last time.

My lesson of hope: Spending time with friends and rooting for #13 created some great memories.
