Sunset Challenge

2016 Vision Board

Quote: “Sunsets are proof that no matter what happens, every day can end beautifully.” – Kristen Butler

One of my favorite things are sunsets. Sunsets are one rare item the world population cannot take away. The sun always comes up and it always goes down, guaranteed. Sunsets bring me joy. I will stop and watch a sunset anytime I can. Some of my favorite sunsets are when they set on the water. Those seem to bring me the most joy and make me feel calm and peaceful. They have the added benefit of being free.

One year I ended up doing a sunset challenge. On my vision board, I cut out a sunset picture and promised myself that I would make time to watch lots of sunsets and find the perfect sunset in my city. I watched so many and it gave me a sense of peace each time. I narrowed them all down to thirteen great pictures, most of which I took on the 13th, my day of hope. One picture I took on top of a hill called Table Rock, overlooking the city of Boise, and one from the top of a popular building downtown. I took another one by the river and one from the rooftop of my house. It was so much fun. The more I talked about it, the more everyone had great ideas of where to see the sunset.

I found places I could watch a sunset that I never would have thought of from a simple picture on my vision board. I then compiled all the pictures and tried to pick my favorite. I plan to hang that picture on my wall someday. It was fun and free. When I travel somewhere new, wherever I might be, I try to see the sunset.
