Goal: Enjoy friendship and food

Quote: “A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though they know that you are cracked.” – Bernard Meltzer

Today is about awesome friends and good food. I was able to take the day off work and just relax. I Love it when I get to sleep in and take my time getting ready. I went to lunch with my friend Frankie. Frankie and I have a very special connection. We share the exact same birthday but 29 years apart. We always celebrate our birthdays together. She is truly my soul sister in this life. This particular month her husband was taking her out to dinner for her birthday, so we went to lunch instead. After lunch, we went to Edwards 21 movie theater to see the movie About Time, starring Rachel McAdams.

It’s a 2013 British science-fantasy and comedy drama. The film is about a young man with the ability to time travel and he tries to change his past in hopes of improving his future. Somewhat dirty in spots, it's British and they are quite open about all things. It was a great reminder to make every day special and treat each day as if you time traveled to that exact day on purpose, because it was so special. So many great life lessons to learn. It was a great film and I ended up buying it on DVD. I watch it often.

It was then time to go to dinner with my angel friend Idgie, at Red Lobster. The restaurant ended up bringing us raw lobster tail, so we had to send it back for more cooking. They brought us a new plate and it was amazing. They also ended up not charging us for dinner. They didn’t have to do that, but it was a nice gesture.

Then we went to my house for my favorite drink that Idgie makes, which is an Alabama slammer. They are so good. She makes it with Amaretto, Southern Comfort, Grenadine, sweet and sour mix, and orange Juice. She makes them even better than the restaurants. She wanted me to watch the movie called Lars and the Real Girl, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Mortimer.

Lonely Lars strikes up an unconventional relationship with a blow-up doll he finds on the Internet, and has her as his girlfriend, and takes her everywhere. He truly believes he is in love with her and is so happy. Everyone in the town loves him and goes along with it. They act like she is real because it makes him so happy. He is finally coming out of his shell and reconnecting with family and friends. Completely hilarious and heartwarming.

As an extra bonus, I received 3 dozen roses at work this week for my birthday week. My desk is covered with red roses, and it makes me feel so special and loved.

My lesson of hope: Friendship is so important for the soul and when you have some very special close friends to celebrate with, hold those friends near as they bring a day full of joy.
