Goal: Hurricanes and candles
Quote: “A good friend is a connection to life – a tie to the past, a road to the future.” – Louis Wyse
Today I had the day off and enjoyed sleeping in, getting some house cleaning done, and just relaxing. I watched a couple of movies, then got all dolled up and went to dinner with my friend Idgie at Joe's Crab Shack, in Boise. We decided to do a pre–Valentine’s Day dinner on Valentine’s eve. We love to go to Joe’s Crab shack. We get seafood platters and share them. We also got our favorite drink, Category 5 Hurricane. Be careful as this drink is powerful. They had to put a 2-drink per day limit on this drink. It has light rum, Bacardi 151, red passion fruit, orange juice, and topped with Myers’ dark rum. We had one each. We laughed and laughed and just had an amazing time catching up and being great friends. We had so much fun, everyone thought we were a romantic couple enjoying Valentine’s Day. We both like men but we enjoyed letting everyone think we were a girlfriend couple. We do make a cute couple.
Then we went to her house to watch the movie, The Christmas Candle. This movie is fun and festive. In the village of Gladbury, every twenty-five years, an angel visits the town candlemaker. They give a miracle to whomever lights the special Christmas candle. The whole town believes this. They get a new pastor, and he does not believe it. He thinks they should believe in God, not candles. The angel appears and picks out a special candle. Through a mishap the candle gets mixed up, so no one knows which one it is. Everyone that got a candle thinks they have the special one. Through a crazy coincidence, or miracle, almost all the town’s people’s wishes have been granted. They all believed they had the special candle, so their wishes somehow came true. Thinking is believing. Maybe through the practice of visualization you can make your wishes come true, eh?
The pastor has the church re-wired to put in electric lights, instead of using the candles for light to try and make his point. The bulbs explode, and the church catches on fire. Christmas Eve all will be revealed. The twist ending is the actual special candle has not been lit yet. You will have to watch it to see who gets it, but the pastor soon becomes a believer. Good, fun, inspirational movie. My heart smiled today.
Also, a big event that happened this month was I booked my only Friday the 13th this year which happens to be in June. Sole purpose: to get a stamp for my passport. Great story. Look forward to that in a day of hope #18.
My lesson of hope: Even just dinner and a movie with a dear friend can make you believe in miracles.
