Day of Hope #43

Goal: Go chasing waterfalls, literally

Quote: “A strong person, and a waterfall, crave their own path.”- Unknown

I love to listen to the peaceful sounds of a waterfall. One month for my day of hope, I consulted my list of items that bring me joy. I had waterfalls on my list. I researched waterfalls in Idaho and made myself a roadmap of the ones I could do as a day trip, since my day of hope fell on a Wednesday.

I had no idea how many waterfalls are in Idaho. There are over a hundred waterfalls! Who knew? I took the day off work, got up early, and found thirteen different waterfalls in southern Idaho. I literally went “chasing waterfalls.” It cost me gas and snacks.

For my first waterfall, I drove to Marsing, Idaho, to see Jump Creek falls. My day of hope often takes me to unexpected places, and this time especially so, since my GPS directions weren’t correct. I must not have been the only one. The house that my GPS took me to had a large sign out front that said, “This is not Jump Creek Falls, I don’t care what your GPS says.” That made me laugh.

My next stop was Twin Falls, then on the way back I went through Hagerman, Idaho to capture the last few. I made twelve stops that day to different waterfalls along my route. I took several minutes at each one and just stopped and stared at each one in peace. At the end of my journey, I needed one more waterfall to make it thirteen, so I chose the rock waterfall in the back yard of the place I was housesitting at the time. My chasing waterfalls day was complete, and all on a weekday no less.

I finished my day with an Epsom salt bath, and watched some Netflix, to catch up on my T.V. shows.

My lesson of hope: Just finding something simple that brings you joy, and actually going and doing it, really does make your life better. I loved this day, and I had so much fun. Just spending time with me, myself and I made it great.
