Wednesday February 13 – Day of Hope #74

Goal: Surprise Beach Vacation

Oh, my Goodness! I do not know if I can describe this Day of Hope but here goes. My boyfriend booked a spontaneous Valentine's vacation. He booked the whole thing, including airfare with miles for both of us. He booked a trip to San Diego, CA. Hello beach vacation. On the thirteenth, it was my day to do as I wished. I searched for options online but did not find anything useful, especially since our flight was later in the afternoon. I decided to wait and see where we were staying and figure it out then.

Oh my, he booked a freaking villa on a beach. Literally, on the ocean, the room was awesome, and the view was to die for. Sandy beachfront with the ocean right across from the patio. You could sit and see and hear the ocean.

It had a living room, bedroom, a bar area, and a bathroom. On the patio there was a private jacuzzi as well. We took a tour of the grounds, and I chose to have dinner in their private clubhouse. Rain had been forecasted, so it was a bit chilly, and I chose to eat inside. What a great meal. He had the sea bass, and I had the halibut. So amazing.

The next day was Thursday, and it was the worst rainstorm they had had in 20 years. Ha, of course. It is more of a misty rain, but the wind was extraordinarily strong. It was so windy you could see people walking on the boardwalk and they were walking sideways because it was so bad. We stayed in and ordered room service for breakfast, then watched movies. It turned out to be an enjoyable day inside. Then we had to brave the weather and go off on our romantic Valentine's Day dinner cruise. The weather cleared up 30 minutes before we left. That was a good sign. During the trip we also enjoyed whale watching, San Diego Zoo, lunch in the Gas Lamp District, and dinner downtown Coronado with an impressive sunset. It was an amazing Day of Hope, and a wonderful Valentine's Day.

My lesson of hope: You never know where life will take you. Do everything and anything that makes your heart smile when you have the opportunity.
